puntKom is a mix of crispy lectures, tasty workshops, bite-sized performances and yummy demos. In short, a meeting place for you (yes, You!), passionate about media, culture, design and technology!
puntKom is a series of informal meetings (each second Thursday of the month) organised by the docents & students of Communication & MultiMediaDesign of the Media & Design Academy (KHLIM).

Postgraduate Program Multimedia & Communication
Jessica Schoffelen presents the new postgraduate program Multimedia & Communication focussing on participative and social use of new media in social, cultural en educational contexts.
Register van de Dag van Gister Register van de Dag van Gister is an interactive Oral History project that makes personal stories historically valuable. The project consists of two parts: the Story Cabinet that collects stories from elderly and is used in public libraries, and the intergenerational program that is used for education. Peter Spuij presents Register van de Dag van Gister. Working at Probiblio he consults libraries in the development of local elderly policies. http://www.gister.nl/
Narrative Inquiry
Rosanne van Klaveren – Digitales Verhaalprojecten - developed several online platforms that collect stories, memories and regional curiosities. Within her phd project FOOD RELATED she researches how the gathered content can be processed in an interactive story. She explains how she uses methods of narrative inquiry. http://www.verhaalprojecten.nl/
Fourth speaker: Dries De Roeck - SmartTouch is a European research project that explored the uses of Near-Field-Communication technology from the user point of view. Dries De Roeck will present how the Centre for User Research and Alcatel Lucent collaborated on deeply involving users in a creative co-design process. The talk will focus on both the process as the end results, illustrating the potential of deeply involving users in design.

Talking on a topic which will tickle your brain and will make you crave for more creative ...euh... stuff! (we hope)
- some tools, work-in-progress,... coming directly from the medialabs of C-md!

- maybe a workshop or some nerdy demo, but definitely a bit of crispy snacks, a refreshing drink (Thanks Nascom!) and young media talent!
They are not that good looking, but hey, they can talk code and will design your next smartphone so it should be worth it.
When & Where
The next puntKom is planned for the 10th of June 2010. We start at 18.45h and we will wrap it up somewhere near 22.00h.
puntKoms are held at the Media & Design Academy in Genk (that's Genk, NOT Ghent. Yes, we have a football team...and a design academy. Neh.).
The official address is C-mine 5 in Genk, but, as this is a fairly new street you will probably best set your GPS device to Evence Coppéelaan and follow the red road 'MDA' signs. The building is located nearby the highway E314 and there is a lot of free parking space.
